Phase 3 Update – Taking Shape

Taking Shape!

If you’ve been to the Y lately, or driven down Scott Street, hopefully, you’ve noticed that things are starting to take shape on the north end of our building, and dare we say … look (so much) better!

With the walls of the addition complete, we were able to have some trees taken out. Not that we aren’t a fan of trees, but these evergreens were old, messy, and were potentially going to be a problem to the addition. With the trees gone, the mud dried up, and some of the inevetible spring construction mess cleaned up the whole corner looks better!

They are currently working on the exterior; there will be brick on the bottom portion with white steel siding above it to match the rest of the exterior.

The project is moving right along, with a projected end date of this coming fall.

Phase 3 Updates

Here We Go! (Again!)

We are excited to bring you along on our journey through Phase 3 of our Capital Campaign!

Construction of our new warm-water pool, hot tub, and splash pad has begun and is taking shape FAST. If you’ve driven by at all in the past week you might have noticed that we’ve gone from ‘It looks like they’re digging a hole’ to ‘Those are walls’ in a matter of days.

This new pool will be smaller than the current pool, ranging from 2′ – 4.5′ deep. It will also be warmer with the water temperature hanging out around 92 degrees. This will provide opportunities for swim lessons, adults with arthritis, and those wanting a therapeutic space for their joints. The new addition will also include an indoor splash pad for families with children as well as a much-needed new hot tub.

In addition to the new pool, we will also be doing some renovations to the current pool. These will include updating the lighting, painting the walls, sandblasting and replacing the existing pool liner and pool deck, removing the current (extremely leaky) hot tub, and adding bleachers. If you’re someone who currently spends a lot of time in our pool, you might be missing the ‘beachy’ feel of sand on the bottom of it (read heavy sarcasm here). This is because we have recently replaced the sand filters… no more sand on the bottom of the pool!

We can’t wait to share the progress with you, so stay tuned!
